Abstract

1364397 Dialkyloctabromodiphenylethers INVENTA AG 7 Feb 1973 [14 Feb 1972] 6058/73 Heading C2C Dialkyloctabromodiphenylethers of the general formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> signify like or differing C 1 to C 4 alkyl groups are claimed per se. The compounds are prepared by treating, at room temperature, a compound of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are defined as above with elementary bromine in the presence of a nuclear brominating catalyst and an organic solvent and completing the bromination by heating.
