Abstract

1362871 Printers CREED & CO Ltd 7 Oct 1971 46704/71 Heading G4H A printing telegraph machine includes a toothed index wheel rotating in synchronism with a continuously-rotating print wheel and producing pulses from a sensor, an electronic frequency sensing device being set in operation by alternate pulses from the sensor and halted by each of the remaining pulses, the frequency sensing device producing an inhibit signal to hold the printing mechanism inoperative if it (the device) reaches a predetermined state before being halted. Each pulse from the sensor reverses the state of a bi-stable, one side of which gates clock pulses to a counter and the other side of which resets the counter. If a predetermined count is reached, a second bistable is set to produce the inhibit signal. When the predetermined count ceases to be reached in the successive counting periods, the next pulse to reset the counter also resets the second bistable.
