Abstract
1362285 Dehydrogenation catalysts BAYER AG 14 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971 24 June 1972] 42705/72 Addition to 1362284 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] Dehydrogenation catalyst comprising (a) alkali metal carbonate and/or alkali metal sulphate, (b) copper, aluminium and chromium in elemental and/or combined form, (c) elemental nickel and, optionally, (d) nickel in combined form, which catalyst has an elemental nickel content greater than 35 but not greater than 45 weight per cent, preferably not greater than 42 weight per cent, is prepared by the process disclosed in Specification 1,362,284. As exemplified, catalyst is prepared by a procedure wherein a copper-aluminium-nickel hydroxidecarbonate mixture is precipitated from nitrate solution by means of alkali metal carbonate solution and thereafter is washed, reacted with ammonium 'bichromate, impregnated with potassium sulphate by suspension in an aqueous solution thereof, dried at 120‹C, ground, formed into tablets with graphite, treated with hydrogen in admixture with nitrogen at an elevated temperature, cooled, treated with air in admixture with nitrogen, ground, formed into tablets with graphite, treated with hydrogen at an elevated temperature and treated with carbon dioxide at 100‹C.
