Abstract
1361857 Scale inhibition CHEMED CORP 27 July 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 35095/71 Heading ClC [Also in Division C7] A composition for inhibition of scale, e.g. in boilers, or sea-water evaporators, comprises (a) about 1 part by weight of where x=1-10, R1=H or C1-C4 alkyl, R2=H, OH, or C1-C4 alkyl, or a water-soluble salt or ester thereof; (b) 1-3 parts of wherein Y and Y<1>=H or C1-C4 alkyl, R3=H, C1-C30 aliphatic, or R4=R3, or where n=1-30, Z=H or -CYY<1>PO3H2, Z<1>=Z, or where m = 1-30, at least one R3 or R4 containing at least one -CYY<1>PO3H2, or a watersoluble salt or ester thereof; and (c) 10-14 parts of a water-soluble polymer selected from polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, acrylic acidmethacrylic acid copolymers, and watersoluble salts thereof. The M.W. of the polymer may be 1,000 to 1,000,000; its Na, K, or NH4 salt may be used. The salt of the phosphonic acids may be an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, Zn, Co, Cr, Pb, Sn, Ni, NH4, amine or lower alkanolamine salt; the composition may contain anti-faom, corrosion inhibitor, or biocide; it is used in concentration 0À5-1000 p.p.m.
