Abstract

1361422 Expansion joints O SELVAAG 13 Sept 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 42653/71 Heading E1W An expansion joint between two parts of a building comprises reinforcement 6 spanning the joint and straps 4 including a vertical portion 4' and held in the concrete by transverse reinforcement 5. The thickness of the concrete between said portion 4' and the joint being such that it will break up when a predetermined level of forces resulting from contraction is exceeded. The supporting member lies in a plane at 30‹-60‹ to the dilation joint.
