Abstract
1361341 Tetrafluorethylene LIQUID NITROGEN PROCESSING CORP 6 Jan 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 618/72 Heading C2C Tetrafluorethylene is prepared by heating polymeric tetrafluorethylene in the presence of steam having a temperature of at least 950‹ F., to above the decomposition temperature of the polymer. The mole ratio of steam to the pyrolysis products is at least one to one, preferably between ten to one and forty to one, and the polymer is preferably heated to between 800‹ F. and 1100‹ F. The pyrolysis may be in an insulated vessel or tube.
