Abstract
1360852 Vulcanizing rubber NATURAL RUBBER PRODUCERS' RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 22 March 1972 [22 March 1971] 7513/71 Heading C3E A vulcanized unsaturated natural or synthetic rubber is such that (a) one of the non- rubber ingredients is from 0À5 to 5 pphr of a zinc, cadmium or lead salt of one or more saturated branched-chain aliphatic or alicyclic carboxylic acids, and (b) each of the non- rubber ingredients is either completely insoluble in the rubber, or if soluble, is present in the vulcanized rubber in a smaller concentration than that which would provide a saturated solution therein. The salt (a) may be added as such to the vulcanizable rubber, or as a mixture of the acid and appropriate metal oxide. Specified acids are 2-ethylhexanoic acid and naphthenic acid.
