Abstract

1360427 Activator compositions HENKEL & CIE GmbH 30 Sept 1971 [1 Oct 1970] 45465/71 Heading D1P [Also in Division C5] A pulverulent to granular activator for a bleaching or bleach-washing comprises an activator for H 2 O 2 or percompounds which form H 2 O 2 in aqueous solution in the form of particles which are surrounded with a coating of a water-soluble and/or water insoluble substance inert to the activator. The coating substance may be a water-soluble salts able to crystallise with water of crystallisation e.g. carbonates, ortho-, pyro- and poly-phosphates and sulphates of alkali metals and water insoluble substances e.g. fumed silica, magnesium oxide, magnesium silicate, tin oxide, tin silicates, titanium dioxide, and polyethylene and polypropylene powders. The solid coating substance is applied to the particulate activator which has previously been wetted with water or an aqueous solution or dispersion of carboxymethylcellulose, methyl- or hydroxy ethyl cellulose, gelatin, casein, agg albumen, ground nut or soya bean proteins, dextrins, tragacanth, pectin, agar agar, alginates, water-soluble alkali metal silicates, the aforementioned water soluble salts able to crystallise with water of crystallisation and non-ionic surfactants, e.g. fatty alcohol- and alkyl aryl-polyglycol ethers, ethylene oxide propylene oxide polymers, polyethylene glycols and polyvinyl alcohols. The other constituents of the composition are as described in Specification 1354583.
