Abstract
1359269 Switch actuators SIEMENS AG 10 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 52141/72 Heading H1N A drive means for storing energy in a pair of springs 18, 22 used to operate a switch shaft 20 between its on and off positions automatically disengages when the required spring energy is stored. In the embodiment an electric motor or manually driven cam 1 reciprocates a ratchet- and-pawl drive 5, 8 via follower 2, 3 whereby a pin 9 on wheel 8 rotates a plate 10 fixed to a shaft 14 to store energy in a tension spring 18 via linkage 15, 16, 17. When the link 15 rotates clockwise beyond top dead-centre (shown), plate 10 lifts a follower carrying a pin 6a which operates to lift the pawl 6 and disengage it from the ratchet wheel 8. The follower 6 may also operate a switch 23 to disconnect the electric motor of the drive or may disconnect a clutch in a manual drive. In switching on, a latch 13 is rotated to release the plate 10 which rotates clockwise under the action of the spring 18 whereby cam 15 actuates a roller 21 on follower 19 to move the switch shaft 20 to the "on" position. The movement of the follower 19 simultaneously stores energy in the tension spring 22 which later operates to rotate shaft 20 to the "off" position when the roller 21 is freed by the cam 15 when it continues to rotate as soon as the pin 9 catches up with the plate 10.
