Abstract

1359252 Lighters FLAMINAIRE 11 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 16691/72 Heading F4F A gas reservoir for a lighter is provided with a regulating device for allowing the gas under pressure to escape with a variable and limited flow-rate, and comprises a threaded part 1 (the axial position of which controls the flow of the gas) which is rotatable in the tapped portion 2 of the reservoir. A control member 3 comprises a thin portion 4 which is engaged in a diametric slot 5 in the threaded part 1 and which has two radial protuberances 6 arranged to engage in the threads 7 of the tapped portion so that the axial position of the control member is fixed when adjustment is not being made. The control member is positioned by forcibly moving the member axially, the protuberances 6 lifting over the threads of the tapped portion 2. The outer section of the control member comprises a disc member 14 having a slot 15 in which a screw-driver or similar tool may be used. A washer 8 is interposed between the control member 3 and the surface 2a of the tapped portion 2. This washer has peripheral notches 9 in which engage ridges 10 formed on the inside of a bore in the wall of the reservoir (Fig. 2, not shown). The inside edge 8a of the washer 8 has two angular stops (11, 12) limiting the rotation of the control member 3 by abutting its narrowed portion 4, which provides maximum and minimum adjustment for the gas flow rate (Fig. 2, not shown). Procedures for assembling the regulating device and setting the adjustment range of the flame are described.
