Abstract

1358895 Vehicles RHEINSTAHL AG HANOMAG BAUMASCHINEN 22 Sept 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 44108/71 Heading B7H A vehicle having endless tracks 7R, 7L driven by a single engine 1 via a torque converter 2, gear-box 3 and reduction gearing 6R, 6L is steered by the differential additional drive supplied by hydraulic motor 9 and twin epicyclic gearing 5. Motor 9 is driven hydrostatically by pump 8 which is adjusted by control lever 11a and ram 10 in conjunction with further ram 12 which applies a brake 4 to the primary drive between the gear-box 3 and the tracks 7R, 7L so that when the additional drive from motor 9 reaches a predetermined speed the brake 4 begins to operate to allow a turn of smaller radius. In other embodiments the further ram 12 effects (a) both the application of a brake (4) between the torque converter 2 and the gear-box 3 and a reduction in torque output from the torque converter 2 or (b) both the application of brake 4 and the disengagement of gearing within gear-box 3.
