Abstract

1358699 Kegs GKN SANKEY Ltd 17 April 1972 [3 March 1971] 5929/71 Heading B8D A beer keg 10 is formed of stainless steel having a 0À2% elongation proof stress of from 45 to 90 tons/sq. inch and is provided with a resilient plastics chime 11 or 18 at each end. The body comprises a cylindrical cold-rolled centre portion 13 and welded dished ends 14 and 15. Each chime is of hollow channel section and is adhered and/or mechanically interlocked to the body. The inner leg of the channel is formed with a foot 19 and the outer leg is formed with a rolling bead. The hollow of the channel may be filled with foamed plastics, and the upper chime is provided with hand holes 50 and drainage holes (not shown). The chimes may be extended and joined by welding to encapsulate the side wall.
