Abstract

1357794 Load-handling systems COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'AUTOMATISME 2 July 1971 [2 July 1970] 31208/71 Heading B8H Apparatus for transferring a load 11 from a pallet 10 to a pallet 30, a transfer sheet 12 being located between the load and the pallet 10, said apparatus comprising a pair of jaw assemblies 21, 22 located at a transfer station 44 to which the pallet 10 and load 11 are transported by means of a first conveyer 40, said jaw assemblies grasping the edges of the sheet 12 which project from two opposite sides of the load and being displaced upwardly such that the load 11 is supported by the sheet 12 and the empty pallet 10 is removed by a second conveyer 46 while a third conveyer 45 moves a pallet 30 to a position beneath the supported pallet 11 at the transfer station 44, the jaw assemblies, sheet and load being lowered down on to the pallet 30 and the jaw assemblies released from the sheet 12 such that the load 11, sheet 12 and pallet 30 are removed by a fourth conveyer 48. When the jaw assemblies 21, 22 grip the edges of the sheet 12 at the transfer station 44 the pallet 10 may be lowered relative to the jaw assemblies 21, 22 so that the load is supported by the sheet 12, or the jaw assemblies may be raised and the pallet simultaneously lowered. Each jaw assembly may comprise a set of individual jaws which are individually displaceable to provide a variation in the tension applied to the sheet along the respective edge portions.
