1357558 Bearings of electric motors UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 1 Aug 1972 [11 Aug 1971 (2)] 37795/71 and 37797/71 Heading H2A [Also in Division F2] A gas bearing assembly comprises a journal 3 and a bearing member 4 which is mounted in a housing 7 by elastomeric material 9, there being a land 10 of convex profile on one of the adjacent surfaces of the housing or bearing member to limit displacement of the member. The bearing member may be lined with epoxy resin 6. The assembly may be employed in an electric motor, the housing serving as a heat sink and carrying a thermal conductor having a surface in close clearance with the surface of the journal in the region of the journal between the rotor of the motor and the bearing member.
