Abstract
1356778 Threaded fasteners; screw sockets; structural joints G SCHATZ 12 Dec 1972 [13 Dec 1971 27 April 1972] 57353/72 Headings F2H and F2M To fasten two components together detachbly, e.g. two furniture parts 2, 3, an internallythreaded socket 6 is glued into a bore in one part 3 and a slotted sleeve 4 is glued into a bore 17 in the other 2, the sleeve housing a plain cylindrical shank part 20 of a threaded member 5 and retaining it against axial movement by means of a collar (12) engaging a circumferential recess 22 of the member, a threaded extension part 21 of the member being insertable into the socket to firmly fasten the two parts 2, 3 together when a lever 7, projecting radially from the member 5 in a recess 9 in the part 2, is turned through less than 180 degrees. The extension part 21 has a thread (preferably a 3-start thread) of large pitch so that the lever 7 need only be turned through less than 180 degrees to effect such fastening. The socket 6 may have external projections 33 or (34), for gripping the bore in which it is housed, and teeth at its entrance for engaging a dog (42) beneath the lever to prevent the lever from being turned accidentally. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 13, not shown), the thread (23) of the extension part 21 has locking teeth (24) for the same purpose. Preferably the socket 6, sleeve 4 and member 5 are all formed of a plastics material such as a polyamide.
