Abstract
1356715 Inflatable craft W TANGEN 22 Sept 1972 [28 June 1972] 44043/72 Heading B7A An inflatable life raft has a canopy which is automatically erected by elements attached to the floating body and which are pivoted to an upright position when the walls of the body are inflated. As shown in Fig. 1 encircling plastics canvas ducts 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP> are automatically inflated upon launching of the raft by compressed air flask 7. A floor 8 comprising air-filled duets is suspended by a watertight canvas 9. The elements, which comprise arms 6, 6<SP>1</SP> attached to reinforced sections 6<SP>11</SP>, support a canopy 11, 11<SP>1</SP> on either side when the raft is inflated. A watertight container 4 with lids 4<SP>1</SP> in both sides is arranged centrally of the raft floor 8. A manually driven pump 3 conveys sea-water through tube 12 to a spraying jet 2 to cool the canopy if desired. A plurality of support rods 10 which lie in the raft during stowage may be manually rigged for lifting the mid section of the canopy.
