1356599 Rear view mirrors FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 16 Oct 1971 48240/71 Heading B7J A motor vehicle has an external rear view mirror 1 mounted on a generally vertical intermediate arm 3 of a U-shaped bracket 5, the free ends of the generally horizontal arms 7 of the bracket being pivoted on the vehicle body about a generally vertical axis so that the bracket can be moved between an extended position shown and a housed position in which it lies close to the body, and a C-shaped spring 9 whose ends 17 are secured to the body, the spring having a kink engaging a nylon guide 13 on the upper arm 7 of the bracket to retain the bracket in its extended position, the movement of the bracket from its extended position causing the spring to deflect.
