Abstract

1354977 Preparing spectroscopic samples TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORP 7 Sept 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 41647/71 Heading G2J Gaseous samples for spectrascopy are prepared by a burner 24 in which the sample drops 49 are heated and atomized; those drops being emitted from a supply pipe which may be vibrated. A lamp 60 is provided to allow absorbtion spectra to be determined at 68, or fluorescence of the sample may be monitored with the light off. In various embodiments two samples may be presented successively and two lights used. The appropriate filter to allow detection of the various spectra are also introduced into the detection path, automatically. The samples may be "scanned" as by an electric field on plates 122, 124 to give an A.C. signal at the detector. Pulse modulation may also be used for this purpose.
