Abstract

1354960 Welding by fusion EUTECTIC CORP 15 Dec 1971 58288/71 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A consumable arc-welding electrode for welding cast iron comprises a hollow sheath of at least 93% nickel, having a filling of at least 90% iron powder and a flux coating. The filling may comprise 20-60% of the weight of the sheath plus the filling. The flux coating (including binder) may comprise 18-52% of the total electrode weight. The coating comprises flux ingredients and, in the range of 40-50 wt. per cent of the coating, a binder of sodium or potassium silicate. Said flux ingredients, in weight per cent of the total flux ingredients (excluding binder) may comprise The electrode is stated to deposit a graphitic nodular structure and may be used with A.C. or straight polarity D.C.
