Abstract

1354347 IC engine valve gear JOHNSON PRODUCTS Inc 11 Oct 1971 [4 Jan 1971] 47246/71 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] An hydraulic tappet for an overhead cam-shaft engine comprises inner and outer cup-shaped members 50, 42, and a guide member 90 connected to the member 42 and being adapted to slide in a cylindrical bore 92 in a cylinder head 11. A spring 100 connects the guide member 90 to the member 42. A plunger 60 and non-return valve 76 divide the space within the members 50, 42 into afluid-pressure chamber 62 and a reservoir 64 to which oil under pressure is supplied from a gallery 66 via ports 68, 70 and 72.
