Abstract

1354334 Ceramic-metal seals SIEMENS AG 14 Dec 1971 57914/71 Heading B3V [Also in Division H2] A vacuum switch comprises a hollow cylindrical ceramic body 1 closed by metallic end plates 3 carrying the contacts 2, flange rings 4 of iron-nickel-cobalt alloy interposed between the end plates and the body, ceramic-glassmetal connections securing the flange rings to the ceramic body, and ceramic counter rings 5 on the sides of the flange rings facing away from the ceramic body. In manufacture, the flange rings are glazed on both sides and inserted between the ground end faces of the body and counter rings, the flange rings then being fused to the body and counter rings in a furnace filled with forming gas. The metallic plates 3 are then soldered or welded to the flange rings 4.
