Abstract

1354058 Heat-sensitive colour forming composition and material MITSUBISHI PAPER MILLS Ltd 24 July 1972 [5 Aug 1971] 34487/72 Heading G2C A heat-sensitive composition or material contains p,p'-(1-methyl-n-hexylidene) diphenol and at least one colourless lactone compound capable of reacting on heating with the diphenol to form a coloured compound. The composition may contain a binder. The lactone compound(s) and diphenol may be mixed and coated on a support as a single layer or may be applied to a support as two layers or either the lactone compound(s) or the diphenol may be contained in the support and the other may be applied to the support. The lactone compound may be a triphenylmethane lactone, fluoran or benzofluoran. The diphenol does not form ground colour, and reacts rapidly to form a colour on heating and has excellent preservability.
