Abstract

1353890 Two part couplings SIEMENS AG 9 May 1972 [10 May 1971] 21556/72 Heading H2E A multiple connector for a screened cable K comprises a plug or contact strip FE mounted on an assembly plate MP and a complementary connector ST mounted in a housing G forming an electrically continuous screen inside which conductors VL can run. The two parts of the assembly are secured by screws SR. The cable screen S is connected to the housing G by an arrangement consisting of sleeve RO inserted between the cable conductors and the screen, which is then secured: by a tube IS, and a metal clamp comprising a spring-loaded outer sleeve M and a plate P perpendicular to the sleeve and forming part of one wall of the housing G which is screwed on to assembly plate MP and electrically connected thereto via frame R spring loaded at Z. To obtain good electrical conductivity a corrugated conducting sheet W joins plate MP and frame R, and plate P is formed with tongues alternately bent out from the plane of P to engage opposite walls of a groove in the wall of the housing G. A cable clamp KS (Fig. 2, not shown) is made in two halves (KSU), (KSO) and has inwardly-projecting ribs (RP) to grip the cable sheath.
