Abstract

1353710 Gas discharge display panels HITACHI Ltd 4 Oct 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 45665/72 Heading H1D A plane multi-digit electric discharge display device, having a plurality of similar pattern display units arranged side-by-side in a common envelope, includes a discharge-sustaining electrode and counter-electrode disposed adjacent that end display unit at which, in the timedivision mode of operation scanning of the units is commenced. As shown, the discharge-sustaining electrode 10 and associated counterelectrode 4k are disposed adjacent the first of display units 7a to 7j formed on the insulating substrate 2, and wire mesh counter electrodes 4a to 4j. To promote rapid starting, a radioactive substance 13 may be mounted, on the insulating spacer 3, near the electrode 10. The electrode segments 6 may be of Mo, W, Ta, or their alloys.
