Abstract
1353576 Valves TROX GmbH Gebr 21 Dec 1972 [21 Dec 1971] 59060/72 Heading F2V A pivotable fire-protection flap valve 1, Fig. 1, for installation in air ducts 10 comprises at least one layer 2, Fig. 3, of gypsum bonded to at least one self-supporting layer 3 of heat insulating material, e.g. asbestos cement. The flap is covered by aluminium foil 4 and is provided along its edges with a substance 6 which foams when subjected to heat. Steel members 7 protect the edges of the flap. The flap swings into a closed position when released by a retaining member 11, Fig. 1. The vaporization of the chemically bound water in the gypsum enables the valve to absorb a great deal of heat.
