Abstract
1352953 Expansion joints FRIEDRICH MAURER SOHNE 12 Jan 1972 [24 April 1971] 1357/72 Heading E1B An expansion joint between two concrete slabs 2, 3 preferably of a bridge deck comprises plates 4 (or 5) having interengaging fingers 4a and 5a the upper edges of which form the road surface, and integral anchoring means 4b, wherein the fingers at each side of the joint are interconnected by transverse bars 6 or 7. The anchoring means include apertures 11 which assist in anchoring and receive reinforcement rods embedded in the concrete. Insulation 18 and a road surface finish 9 are also included. Projections 12 on the bar 7 assist in anchoring the fingers. Plates 13 are welded to the upper and lower bars 6 and 7 and bridge the gaps between adjacent fingers.
