Abstract

1352711 Dispensing flexible sheet material UNION CARBIDE CORP 23 June 1971 [24 June 1970] 29511/71 Heading A4G [Also in Division B8] A carton for packaging and successively dispensing plastics films or bags from a stack 30 thereof has an internal leash rod 12 over which the stack is folded and restraining means 34 which abut the fold. The stack is further folded within the carton, as shown. To dispense the films or bags, the side wall 20 and part of the top wall 14 are unfolded to be planar with the bottom wall 12, as shown, the stack 30 is unfolded, and the innermost film or bag gripped by its longer, lower section. The leash rod 32 is held by coaxial extensions of smaller diameter in apertures in the side walls (16), 18. The apertures may be masked on the outside by extension flaps (98) of the side wall 22. The restraining means 34 comprises a strip of corrugated cardboard which is resiliently folded and which may be supplemented by a foam strip (76) or springs at its base. In modifications, the restraining means may comprise a resilient plastics sheet, foam material or resilient means biasing the leash rod and films or bags towards a wall panel. The top wall 14 may be divided into two parts for dispensing by means of a tear strip (24), or may comprise two parts which are held together by adhesive tape or an overlapping lip (50).
