Abstract

1352069 Ladders STEPHENS & CARTER Ltd 30 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 8431/71 Heading E1S An extruded metal or plastics tread 11 for a ladder is of inverted rectangular channelsection with longitudinal internal grooves 14 as shown, and when the ladder is assembled fixing devices, e.g. screws 15, spring clips or rivets, are inserted through holes 16 in the stiles 21 and engage in the ends of respective grooves 14 of the tread, thereby securing the tread to the stiles. The tread surface may have shallow grooves 13. The stiles may be of simple channel-section or, as shown, may be of I-section having one C-section flange 22 and one plane flange 23, for use in a slidably extensible ladder, the flanges 23 of one ladder part sliding in the flanges 22 of another part.
