Abstract

1351560 Cigarettes BRITISH-AMERICAN TOBACCO CO Ltd 21 Nov 1972 [13 March 1972] 53721/72 Heading A2C In a cigarette of the kind in which the wrapper is modified by treatment in a plurality of specific, separated areas with a strong, combustion supporting, oxidising agent, lateral migration of the oxidising agent during storage of the cigarette is reduced by the use as the oxidising agent of a mixture of potassium chlorate and sodium chlorate in a molar ratio of 2.6:1 to 1.0:1. Due to the low solubility of potassium chlorate at room temperature, the mixture is applied in hot aqueous solution which solution may also contain a viscosifier such as locust bean gum or food grade xanthan gum.
