Abstract
1350830 Tunnelling BANYASZATI TERVEZO INTEZET 19 April 1971 [7 March 1970] 23194/71 Heading E1F Tunnelling equipment involves a tunnelling unit A, B, which as it advances, draws behind it into the tunnel it forms a gradually increasing number of tunnel liners C. Preferably the tunnelling unit comprises a shield A and an earth-excavating unit B positioned within the shield A, which consists of a cutting edgecarrying unit A 1 , a trunk unit A 2 and a tail unit A 3 . The units A 1 , A 2 and A 3 are so connected together as to be movable with respect to one another. The excavating unit involves a casing that is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the shield, is reciprocable along said axis, encloses a bucket chain excavator that projects through an opening in a roller-supported, disc-shaped front plate of the casing. The liners C are connected to one another by tensile members D provided with elastic waterproofing elements E. The tensile members D are inflatable. At first the tunnelling unit A, B is advanced stepwise, there being provided for this purpose in the preferred embodiment rams between the trunk unit A, and the anchorable tail unit A 3 . After the unit A, B by this method of advance has drawn into the tunnels sufficient liners to absorb the advancing thrust of the rams by frictional contact of the liners with the tunnel, the tail unit A 3 is no longer anchored during advance of the tunnelling unit. Advance then of the liners after the cutting unit A, B has been advanced in the tunnel is by inflation of the tensile members D, which cause the liners C to advance unit by unit as the rams 3 are contracted.
