Abstract

1350749 Anchor sockets D S SEELEYJONES 19 April 1971 [25 Nov 1969] 57682/69 Heading F2H A method of securing an anchor insert comprising a metal cylinder 1 having an axial bore 2 for reception of a threaded bolt and an axially slit end with circumferentially ridged outer surface, comprises inserting the insert in a hole in a structure a, inserting into the bore a predetermined amount of flowable material which hardens on setting, e.g. cement grout 6, driving a plug 7 into the bore to force the material through the axial slits 4 into the space b between the outer surface of the insert and the wall of the hole, and allowing the material to set and harden so as to bond the ridges 5 to the hole wall, the plug 7 remaining in the bore 2 after the material has set. The amount of material used is selected to bond at least the ridges 5 to the hole wall, and is preferably sufficient to fill the whole of the space b to bond the insert substantially over its entire axial length.
