Abstract

1349709 Epoxy resin-glass fabric laminates SCHERING AG 10 May 1972 [10 May 1971] 21881/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Laminates are prepared using glass fabric prepregs comprising epoxy resin hardened to the B-stage with monomeric cyanamide. In an example 150 parts by wt. of a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A and 80 parts by weight of cyanamide are mixed and the resultant soln. added to a further 850 parts of the same diglycidyl ether. The product was used to impregnate glass-fabric which was heated 5 mins. at 120‹ C. The non-tacky prepreg remained stable for months at 20‹ C. A 23-ply laminate was prepared by curing under pressure for 30 mins. at 160‹ C.
