1349169 Delivering measured quantities of lubricants or other liquids SCHMIERGERATEWERK-SAXONIA VEB 6 July 1971 31692/71 Heading B8N A lubricant metering device comprises a piston 12 movable against bias of spring 13 by lubricant supplied by an intermittently operated pump (not shown) via inlet 3 and bores 9, 10 into a chamber 11 to dispense lubricant in chamber 14 via an outlet 15. Supply of lubricant by the pump moves valve member 4 to close bore 5 from chamber 2 and to open the inlet 3 to chamber 2. The bores 9, 10 constantly communicate the chambers 2, 11, so that opening of the inlet 3 to the chamber 2 allows lubricant to flow into the chamber 11 to displace the piston. When the pump is rendered inoperative the bias of the spring returns the piston to its initial position, and lubricant forced from the chamber 11 returns the valve member 4 to its initial position to permit lubricant forced from the chamber 11 into the chamber 2 to flow into the chamber 14 via bores 5 and 7, annular passage 8 and openings 23, 24. The device is thus conditioned for a further operational cycle. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the volume of lubricant dispensed can be varied by adjustment of a screw (18) carried by the piston (12).
