Abstract
1349031 Hot tops for ingot moulds RESIL PROCESSES Ltd 17 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971 16 Feb 1971] 3087/71 and 4731/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division E2] A hanger for supporting hot-top tiles at the head of an ingot mould comprises an element 10 (e.g. of mild steel) with a cranked portion 12 for resting on the top of an ingot mould and a row of similar hanger members 15 punched out of a hanger supporting portion 13, which, in use, engage recesses in hot-top tiles (not shown). The hanger members preferably have a swaged dimple 14 which exerts a wedging effect when inserted into a recess. In one modification (not shown) the hanger members are raked upwardly at 40-50 degrees and have rounded ends. The cranked portion 12 may be at an angle of 75-85 degrees to the hanger supporting portion. (For Figure see next column.)
