Abstract

1348771 Laminates TAC CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS Ltd 19 April 1971 [2 Feb 1970] 4903/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division D1] A material for incorporation into a laminate consists of a reinforcement incorporating asbestos yarns or fibres, a portion of the asbestos being coated with P.T.F.E., the reinforcement being impregnated with bonding resin. The material may be a woven fabric, with P.T.F.E. treated yarns in the warp or weft only, or a blended yarn of P.T.F.E. coated asbestos fibres and cotton or cotton and rayon fibres may be used. Alternatively, some of the yarns in the fabric may be entirely asbestos fibres and others entirely of cotton or rayon. The reinforcement may be impregnated with phenol/formaldehyde resol. Layers of the fabric are built up between steel plates and cured under, for example, 500 p.s.i. pressure and at 50‹ C. for one hour to form a laminate.
