Abstract

1347916 Programmed control FRANZ MORAT GmbH 1 June 1971 [30 May 1970] 18370/71 Heading G3N A machine having a plurality of working stations operating in a periodic sequence with a period T of N successive working cycles is controlled by generating N kinds of pulses per period T which are relatively offset in time and selecting for each working station a predetermined number of the kinds of pulses as control pulses to produce the desired periodic sequence. As shown, a slotted disc 11 is positively driven, through a transmission 25, 37-45, by a motor 31 coupled to a needle cylinder 35 of a knitting machine. Phased pulses developed by photo-cells 17, 19 are fed to a logic network 47 wherein they are gated to produce a four pulse sequence each pulse of which appears on a line 71-77. The pulses are fed through a cross-bar distributor 49, using diode plugs 105, to selector devices 51 to determine that a knit or no-knit actuation of a needle is effected. Alternatively, the device 49 can be omitted and the lines 71-77 connected directly to the devices 51. Additional synchronization of the rotation of the needle cylinder to the pulses on line 71-77 can be effected by the use of AND-gates 97 opened by pulses from a magnetic pick-up 93 responsive to cylinder needles 95 or the webs between.
