Abstract

1347582 Lyophilized collagen polydispersions INTREPRINDEREA FLACARA ROSIE 2 Feb 1972 4891/72 Heading C3H A process for preparing collagen-based materials for medicinal dressings comprises freezing a collagen (e.g. cattle hide) polydispersion at - 65‹ C. or lower, preferably - 65‹ to - 70‹ C. and 2À5 to 3À2 hours, the polydispersion being of concentration 0À66 to 2% by weight of collagen and drying the frozen polydispersion by subjecting it to vacuum sublimation preferably at 10<SP>-3</SP> to 10<SP>-5</SP> torr for 24 to 48 hrs., wherein the final temperature does not exceed 35‹ C. A bactericide and/or a bacteriostatic agent may also be incorporated in the polydispersion.
