Abstract
1344394 Melt-spinning apparatus REIFENHAUSER KG 18 Jan 1972 [19 March 1971] 2256/72 Heading B5B Apparatus for manufacturing filaments spun from molten synthetic material comprises a molten material distributing device 1 having a spinning head 5 with a conical annular channel 6, with an attached front element 7 connected to the annular channel and containing a number of distribution ducts 8 arranged in a circle over the periphery of the annular channel, individual spinneret assemblies 2 each being surrounded by an individual cooling air blowing device 3, and a conventional take-up system for the filaments. The melt is supplied from central feed duct 10 to the annular channel 6 which as shown is preferably of conical form, and passes via distribution ducts 8, which may be equidistant from each other, to the spinneret assemblies 2. Spinning pumps 11 may be fitted between ducts 8 and spinneret assemblies 2. Each individual spinneret assembly may be surrounded by a cooling air blowing device 3, so constructed that cooling air issues from the gap 12 coaxially with respect to the extruded filaments 13. The filaments then pass to winding means (Fig. 1, not shown). The construction of the apparatus is such that each volumetric part of the melt being spun flows through a path of equal length, and the cooling air always flows in the spinning direction, enabling high spinning speeds to be obtained.
