Abstract

1344070 Transfers J G J PIRON 15 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 61862/70 Addition to 1312916 Heading B6C [Also in Division C3] A transfer comprises a base, ink signs and ink solvent-containing microcapsules in or over the signs. When the microcapsules are burst on application of the transfer to a receptor surface the solvent, which does not affect the base, and is present in such an amount as not to dissolve the signs, causes the signs to adhere to the receptor surface. The bass may be of polyethylene, polypropylene, tetrafluorethylene or of transparent paper coated with one of these polymers or with silicone. The ink used may be based on nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose, ethylhydroxyethylcellulose, polyvinylbutyral or chlorinated rubber, and the microcapsules, which may be of gelatine or of gelatine with a polymer, e.g. of gelatine and gum arabic, may contain xylene, white spirit or a ketone. Examples of ink compositions are given.
