Abstract

1343486 Relieving crank-case compression HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS AB 19 April 1971 [18 Feb 1970] 21933/71 Heading F1K A device for facilitating starting of an internalcombustion engine includes at least one crankcase decompression valve having means for intermittently holding the valve open during a portion of a starting sequence. The valve cooperates with an opening or passage between the inside of the crank housing 1 of the engine and the surroundings and comprises an outwardly operable decompression valve 11 provided with operating means 4 for holding the valve in closed position after the portion of the starting sequence as shown, under the action of a spring 10 located between the arm 5 and the crank housing 1, the member 4 is urged against a rubber plate 11 and towards the opening 3 and during the period in which the cam follower 7 and the cam plate 8 are in contact with one another seals the opening by pressing the rubber plate against the same. When the member 4 and the rubber plate are apart and the pressure in the crank housing is higher than the pressure outside the housing the plate is pushed outwardly thereby uncovering the opening and venting the crank housing. The starting means may be cord actuated or may comprise an electric starter motor or means for supplying gas to the cylinders of the engine.
