Abstract

1343405 Moulding machines FOSTER YATES & THOM Ltd 23 June 1971 [4 July 1970] 32515/70 Heading B5A In a moulding machine comprising a mould having lateral mould members 5, 6 and an end member 8 adapted to support a removable mould member 9 or 10, and means 16 for opening and closing the mould members, a link mechanism 17-28 is provided with disengageable means whereby the end member 8 can be opened without opening the lateral mould members to allow replacement of one removable mould member 9 by another one 10. The invention is applied to the injection moulding of two-colour/material footwear and allows changing of the sole mould members without disturbing the lateral mould members. The disengageable means comprises a slide 30 provided with a pair of keyhole shaped slots (31) Fig. 5 (not shown) and movable between two extreme positions by means of slide bars 33 (Fig. 6) operated by cylinderpiston devices 34. In one extreme position buttons 32 (Fig. 3) on the upper mould carrier 12 engage with the slide 30 whereby the upper mould member 5 is locked for movement with the upper mould carrier (Fig. 4, not shown). In the other extreme position of the slide the buttons 32 are free to move out of engagement with the slide whereby the upper mould carrier can move without disturbing the mould member 5 (Fig. 3). The machine may include ten moulds 2 (only six shown) on a rotatable table 1, and two injection heads 3, 4.
