1342789 Amcyclodin salts E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 19 April 1971 [27 March 1970] 22604/71 Heading C2A A method for the production of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of amcyclodin, i.e. α - amino - cyclohexadicrylalkylene penicillin compounds of Formula I wherein M is an alkali metal or an ammonium ion, comprises reacting an amine salt of amcyclodin in a non-aqueous solvent with an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of a carboxylic acid in the presence of substantially that amount of water required to form the monohydrate of amcyclodin. A method for the production of the above alkali metal or ammonium salts of amcyclodin comprises reacting amcyclodin with the hydroxide, alkoxide or athanoate of an alkali metal or ammonia in the presence of substantially that amount of water required to form the monohydrate of amcyclodin. The anhydrous salts may be prepared by dehydration of the monohydrate.
