Abstract
1342698 Magnetic material: powder metallurgy RAYTHEON CO 6 April 1972 [6 April 1971] 16016/72 Addition to 1290887 Headings C7A and C7D A magnetic material is composed of a mixture of RCo 5 and R 2 Co 7 (wherein R is one or more of Fa, Pr and Ce). For a composition composed of 60% by weight RCo 5 and balance R 2 Co 7 , or for R34-37À5% Co66-62À5%, Sm can be added to the list of possibilities for R. The material may be made by densifying a compact of particles of less than single domain particle size of the species RCo 5 (e.g. less than 10 microns) when once again R may be Sm. The compact may be formed in a magnetic field; sintered and magnetized along the direction of the field during compaction.
