Abstract

1342246 Screw and nut gearing ROTAX Ltd 1 June 1971 [10 June 1970] 28021/70 Heading F2Q In a recirculating ball-type screw-and-nut gear in which a pair of ball nuts 12, 13 are relatively axially adjustable in a housing 19 by a screwed ring 23 on the nut 13 co-operating with a flange 22 on the nut 12 seated respectively on housing faces 21, 20 for backlash adjustment of the nuts 12, 13 on the Screw shaft 10, the nuts being axially adjustable on a pin 18a which prevents relative rotation of the nuts additionally keyed at 24 to the housing 19, the ball nuts have a common aligned passage 14 formed partly in each nut whereby the balls 18 are transferred between the opposite ends of the nuts during the recirculating return of the balls 18, a deflector pin 17 arranged in end caps 15 serving to deflect the balls 18 along the recirculation passage 14.
