Abstract

1342059 Bolt fastenings G H WEIG [trading as DR GUNTER H WEIG] 29 March 1972 [5 April 1971] 14840/72 Headings E2A and E2B A fastening device for a side wall of a vehicle by means of which the wall is securable to an adjoining part of the vehicle, comprises a housing 1 adapted to be attached to the wall and having guide means 29 in which a bolt 3 is axially slidable by a handle 2 pivotable about an axis 8 perpendicular to the axis of the bolt, the bolt co-operating with a keeper 5 on the said adjoining part of the vehicle and the axial sliding of the bolt being effected by co-operation of the bolt with at least one cam 12 which is rotatable by pivotal movement of the handle in such a manner that in the fully locked position of the device an axial tension is produced between the bolt and keeper. As shown, the handle is pivoted on pins 14 and has a forked part the arms 13 of which each carry a cam 12 which acts on facing follower faces on flanges 9, 10 of a double T-shaped part 11 of the bolt; the bolt is in two parts 23 24 screwed together whereby the length of the bolt is adjustable. A T-shaped head 26 of the bolt engages in the keeper 5. By rotating the handle outwardly corresponding rotation of the cams therewith causes sliding forward movement of the bolt whereby the keeper is disengageable from the head 26. The handle, in the fastened position of the bolt, is latched in place by a spring catch 22. In a modification, the bolt 3 is formed with a claw (32), Fig. 3 (not shown), providing follower faces (33), (34), the handle 2 being rotatable on a single pin (31) and latched in place by a bolt (41) engaged between springs (43), the bolt (41) being released by pressing the handle so that a sleeve (45) on the bolt forces apart the springs. The bolt has a part-spherical head.
