Abstract

1341503 Producing steel plates NIPPON KOKAN KK 29 Sept 1971 [15 March 1971] 45349/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] A method of producing steel plates comprises continuously casting molten killed steel of composition: C < 0À10%; Si 0À03-0À10%; Mn < 0À20%; Soluble Al 0À0001-0À010%; B 0À003-0À010%; O 2 < 0À015%; balance of Fe and impurities to form slabs, hot rolling the slabs to form plate, pickling the plate, cold rolling the pickled plate, and annealing the cold-rolled steel plate. In an example a steel within the above composition range was hotrolled to 2À8 mm. thickness at a finishing temperature of 850‹ C. and a winding temperature of 560‹ C. After pickling, the plate was cold-rolled to 0À8 mm. thickness and then annealed in a holding furnace for three hours at 700‹ C., above the steel's recrystallization temperature. Increasing the finishing temperature from 850-870‹ C. and winding temperature to 580‹ C. resulted in an increase in the Lankford value r, Fig. 1 (not shown), of the steel where the soluble aluminium content is less than 0À008%.
