Abstract

1340984 Spindle mounting; spindle brake MONSANTO CO 9 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 11033/72 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A spindle bearing is mounted on a textile machine spindle rail 1 by a first supporting plate 20 which is fixed to the spindle bearing housing 2,, and a second complementary supporting plate 22 which has an opening 23 through which the housing passes spaced from the plate, the plates being secured together with an elastic member 26 between to damp vibrations, there being a tubular extension 25 on the second plate which extends through the opening in the rail with means 7 being provided for securing the extension to the rail. Preferably the plates are triangular with three elastic members being located in their corners, with bolts 27 passing through the centres of the members to hold the plates together. The second plate may carry a spindle braking assembly 30 which has a braking surface 37 which engages the outer surface of the whorl 17. A doffer guard 38 may be provided for preventing removal of the spindle while the bobbin is removed, but which can be moved by a lever 36 to allow the whorl to be removed.
