Abstract

Nov. 2, 1918 Reinforced concrete; reinforced - concrete beams; roofs.-Concrete spars, beams, joists, &c. are reinforced by one or more tubular members formed of wire fabric or gauze of a mesh suitable to afford a secure hold for nails or screws without plugging, or for holes to be pierced therein by bradawls or brace bits. The concrete consists of cement, sand, gravel, and chippings or slag, and may contain fibrous mineral or chemical substances. The tubular members may be cylindrical or prismatic in shape, Figs. 4 and 9, and may be formed in two or more parts joined along the edges, or with a hinged side to facilitate the filling of the mould. The completed spars may be cut to desired lengths and are suitable for frames for roofs, doors, and windows. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2517/87, 11192/05, and 5361/07.
