Abstract

1339933 Amplifiers BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 14 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 43024/71 Heading H3T A current drive amplifier for converting a D.C. voltage input into a current output independent of the load R L comprises a D.C. differential amplifier A 1 having its non-inverting input connected to a power supply feeding the amplifier which is isolated from the signal return paths provided for the input voltage and output current. In operation, at least a portion of the input current is diverted through the power supply into the load R L . The voltage across the load R L adjusts itself so that the voltage at the non-inverting input is substantially the same as that at the inverting input or differs from it by a small offset which is compensated by a corresponding change in the output current. An output current monitor including a further differential amplifier A2 may be connected across a resistor R 1 in the current path.
