Abstract
1339525 Lock plates WILH ENGSTFELD 4 April 1972 [5 April 1971 27 Dec 1971] 15442/71 Heading E2A An assembly for a door or window comprises an outer plate having a bearing aperture for a handle shaft, a mounting part positioned at the back of the plate, an attachment screw passing through aligned holes in the plate and the part with its head passing freely through the plate hole and engaging the part so that the part, in use, is clamped against a door or window surface and the plate has a peripheral rim which is held to the surface by the connection of the plate with the part. Fig. 2 indicates a pressed sheet metal mounting part 9 held by an aperture bush 8 against the plate 1 and having supporting surfaces 13' (two) and 14' (one) extending beyond the rim edge plane, the edge 14' being toothed or wavy. The support surface(s) may be integral with the bush and project to the rim edge plane or be provided by a resilient pad in a recess of the bush. Alternatively in Fig. 7 the surfaces are provided by an angle component 40 held against the rear face of the plate 1 by the bush 21 and having a plurality of teeth 41 projecting beyond the rim edge plane; an extra bearing surface being provided by a face 34' of the bush. The attachment screw may be covered by a plug.
